Trailhead Treatment Center provides outpatient mental health treatment in Salem, NH for adults living with trauma, anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, and co-occurring substance use disorders. Trailhead holds dual licensure from the State of New Hampshire for both substance use and mental health treatment, meaning one clinical team treats both conditions simultaneously in the same program.
Most outpatient treatment centers in New Hampshire are licensed for substance use or mental health. Not both. That separation forces clients into separate programs with separate providers who may never communicate.
Trailhead is different. dual licensure means one integrated clinical team treats addiction and mental health at the same time, in the same sessions, with the same therapist. There is no referral out for mental health if you came in for substance use. There is no separate track.
This matters because addiction and mental health rarely exist in isolation. Untreated anxiety drives relapse. Unresolved trauma fuels substance use. Depression makes early recovery feel impossible. Treating one without the other leaves the root cause in place.
At Trailhead, your therapist sees the full picture from day one.
Trailhead’s clinical team provides evidence-based treatment for the following mental health conditions, both as standalone diagnoses and alongside substance use disorders:
Trauma is one of the most common drivers of both substance use and mental health symptoms. Trailhead’s clinicians are trained in trauma-focused therapy and trauma-informed care across all programming. Every group, every session, every interaction is built with trauma awareness. Learn more about trauma and PTSD treatment.
Generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and panic disorders are treated through CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), breathwork, grounding techniques, and holistic modalities like yoga and meditation that build long-term self-regulation skills. Learn more about anxiety treatment.
Clinical depression is addressed through individual therapy, group support, movement-based therapies, and psychiatric medication management when clinically indicated. Trailhead’s nature-inspired environment and holistic programming are designed to counter the isolation and stagnation that depression creates. Learn more about depression treatment.
Difficulty managing emotional responses, including intense reactions to stress, mood instability, and impulse control challenges. Trailhead’s self-regulation focus uses breathwork, meditation, yoga, and clinical techniques to build practical coping tools you can use outside of treatment.
Chronic stress, burnout, and stress-related physical symptoms treated through a combination of clinical therapy and holistic approaches: reiki, sound therapy, art therapy, ear acupuncture, breathwork, and grounding techniques.
When addiction and mental health conditions exist together, they require simultaneous treatment. Trailhead’s dual licensure means your clinical team addresses both without splitting your care between providers or programs. Learn more about co-occurring disorders treatment.
Not sure which condition applies to your situation? That is what the clinical assessment determines. Call 978-915-8317 and our admissions team will walk you through it. Confidential and pressure-free.
Trailhead accommodates clients with high-functioning autism spectrum presentations and clients with a history of eating disorders. These are accommodated within the existing program structure, not treated as specialties.
If your needs require a higher level of specialized care for either condition, our clinical team helps navigate you to the right provider. We do not accept individuals requiring inpatient-level psychiatric care, but we coordinate referrals and help with placement when that level of care is appropriate.
trauma-focused therapy: A structured therapy for processing traumatic memories and reducing their emotional charge. Effective for PTSD, anxiety, and trauma-related depression.
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy): Identifies and restructures patterns of thinking that contribute to anxiety, depression, and emotional dysregulation.
Movement-based therapies: Physical movement integrated into clinical programming to support emotional processing, stress reduction, and self-regulation.
Trauma-informed care: Not a single modality but a framework applied across all treatment at Trailhead. Every clinician, every group, every interaction accounts for the impact of trauma.
Each client is assigned an individual therapist on day one. That therapist stays with you for the duration of your treatment, including if you step between program levels (PHP to IOP to outpatient). Continuity matters. You build on progress instead of re-explaining your history to a new provider.
Structured group sessions address shared experiences around mental health, coping, and recovery. A women-only track is available within PHP and IOP for those who benefit from gender-specific group work.
Trailhead provides psychiatric evaluation with our Nurse Practitioner and ongoing medication management as part of the treatment plan. Medication decisions are made collaboratively between you, your therapist, and the prescribing provider. No one is put on medication without a clinical conversation about whether it fits your goals.

Trailhead integrates holistic programming into the daily clinical schedule. These are not optional extras or add-ons. They are built into your treatment plan alongside individual therapy, group sessions, and medication management.
Yoga: Supports anxiety reduction, emotional regulation, and physical reconnection. Trailhead co-founder Caitlin DiBlasi, a former yoga instructor and marathoner, played a key role in shaping the holistic component of the program.
Breathwork: Practical breathing techniques for managing panic, emotional flooding, and stress responses. Skills you take with you after treatment.
Meditation and grounding techniques: Build present-moment awareness and reduce the rumination patterns common in anxiety and depression.
Reiki and sound therapy: Complementary modalities that support relaxation, stress reduction, and emotional processing.
Outdoor and nature exposure: Trailhead’s facility is designed with warm colors, abundant plant life, natural lighting, and outdoor spaces. The environment itself is part of the therapeutic approach.
The goal of holistic programming at Trailhead is self-regulation: building your capacity to manage stress, emotions, and cravings without relying solely on clinical sessions. These are tools you keep.
Trailhead’s clinical approach is led by Alysia LaGambina, LICSW, Clinical Director. Alysia brings a strong therapeutic foundation in adult mental health and addiction treatment developed across outpatient therapy settings and years as a public health social worker. Her approach is holistic and trauma-informed, recognizing the complex interplay between mental health, environment, and lived experience.
Every client receives an individual therapist and a dedicated case manager assigned on day one. Your therapist conducts your individual sessions, leads your family sessions (weekly or bi-weekly), and stays with you if you step between levels of care. One relationship, one clinical thread, from start to finish.
Trailhead is recovery-owned and operated by Caitlin and Mike DiBlasi. The staff includes people who have been where you are. That is not a marketing line. It shapes how the program was built, how the space was designed, and how every conversation starts.
If you have been through mental health treatment before and it did not work the way you needed it to, that experience is not wasted. It is data.
Many people who come to Trailhead have previous treatment history. Our clinical team reviews what you have already tried, what helped, and what did not. Your plan here builds on that foundation rather than starting from scratch.
Previous treatment teaches your care team which approaches work for you and which ones to adjust. A second or third attempt at treatment is not a sign of failure. It is a sign that you have not found the right fit yet.

Trauma-focused therapy at Trailhead is a structured clinical approach to processing traumatic memories and reducing their emotional charge. Clinicians use trauma-informed care, CBT, grounding techniques, and breathwork to help clients work through traumatic experiences at a pace that feels safe. Over time, the emotional weight attached to past events decreases, improving daily functioning and emotional regulation. This approach is effective for PTSD, anxiety, and trauma-related depression.
